Long vehicle journey? We’ve got you covered. Here’s how to prepare…Long vehicle journey? We’ve got you covered. Here’s how to prepare…

• Make sure your vehicle is in perfect condition – you do not want to experience a broken down car, or worse, a leaking window seal during your journey. This is especially true if you will be driving through bad weather. Always get your vehicle professionally checked before heading out on a long journey. Visit windscreen repair services even if you don’t think your minor crack will cause you any trouble.

• Make sure you are in perfect condition; prepare for emergencies – like you’d give your vehicle a once over, and best repair car glass if the need arises, you need to give yourself a once over and make sure you’re ready for this long vehicle journey. Make sure you have all the necessary things in case of an emergency. This includes anything from a gastritis relieving tablet to your sanitary napkins; don’t make the mistake of assuming you’d be able to find it where ever you go…

• Be very sure of the routes – there is absolutely nothing worse than being tired from a long, long journey, and having travelled for hours, before finding out that you have been driving in the wrong direction. Thanks to the internet, online maps can take you almost anywhere if you know to read a map. However, there’s a possibility that these maps may not be accurate; so always double check with another map, and be very sure of the routes before heading out.

• Have a stock of non messy foods and drinks – since it’s a long journey, it’s nearly impossible not to eat or drink anything on the way. Sure, you might occasionally stop by a road side diner to get your meal, but those things that you munch on, on your way will actually help you stay awake. But if this journey is several days long, and you are going to be eating throughout it all inside the vehicle, then make sure it’s foods that won’t make a mess; as you’ll be in that mess for quite a bit. Remember to take garbage bags with you, and dispose your junk when you get the chance…

• Entertainment for the way – as much as you love the person you are travelling with, being stuck for hours with the same person can be tiring. If you don’t want to start arguing, simply because you’re tired and bored of the conversations, make sure to take plenty of entertainment along with you for the journey. Books, podcasts, music and even movies (if you’re taking your laptop or have a vehicle DVD player) are a great idea. If you are travelling with kids, then make sure to look up some games, as they tend to get bored faster than adults.
